Left column width

Hi, i'm making a portal for my forum and i have a few problems, this is one of them.

I can't change the width of the left column and besides it shows with more width in firefox and konqueror than in chrome or IE.

Where can i change this width or make exceptions with <!-- IF IE --> or something like that?

Well i solved it.

The Search and Link_us blocks had a size="x" that was the culprit of the left column showing wider in Firefox(Linux) than in Firefox(Windows)

I also found the way of making the left column wide smaller, i changed inputbox autowidth and erased the !important option that made all the other especified sizes to not be applied.
