Have you replaced all the files that came with the download?
Do you use a skin that doesn't come with the phpbb3 package?
Have you also purged the cache on the website through the ACP?

The link below is to the test site I'm messing with, I created a new mysql database and a fresh install of phpBB3 and Portal to test with so I don't break our actual site. From another post in this forum I got a nice Ventrilo panel added in as you can see.

I use the standard skin just for testing purposes right now, I haven't even begun down that road of changing skins yet and breaking everything. :P

And lastly, yes, I have purged the cache through the ACP.

Thanks for all your help so far by the way. :) Any chance you have Ventrilo or MSN/AIM/Yahoo so we might be able to speak directly?

Thanks again!

First thing I noticed in the coding on the website is that the code for the actual Recruitment Status block is not even there, are you *sure* you replaced all the files and enabled it in the ACP?

I followed every step of the instructions, it shows up in the APC under Portal. I click on Recruitment and Display Recruitment Block is set to "Yes".

I copied all of the files out of the .zip file folder called "root" which includes 4 foldes and portal.php up to the root of the site (/testforum). Did I miss a step somewhere or copy something to the wrong spot?

Did you copy the files to the right style folder? (if you copy paste and overwrite it's in the prosilver style folder)
portal_body.html and recruitment.html is in the prosilver style folder.

Ok ok ok...now I see what happened here...when I opened up the folder titled "root" I just grabbed all those files and folders and dumped them into my root. What I didn't notice is that the "styles" folder ONLY has "prosilver" inside of it, and I'm using the subsilver2 style, therefore the portal_body.html and recruitment.html files didn't exist in the subsilver2 style and therefore the reason the recruitment block wasn't showing up. I have added those 2 .html files and now the recruitment block shows up correctly. THANK YOU VERY MUCH WAFFLE.

I do still have one issue with it though, for some reason, it doesn't show the class icon images...any idea why that would be?

And lastly, if I want to use a different style completely, what do I need to do to ensure my Portal will still work correctly?

Thanks again! ;)

I just answered 1 of my 2 questions, I had to open up recruitment.html and add the /testforum to the image location and that fixed the broken image problem.

Is there anyway to get "Recruitment Status" centered over the columns? I went into the recruitment.html file and changed the align=left to align=middle but it didn't make any difference. I'm a network admin, not a web guy so some of this editing is a bit out of my element. :D

Lastly, what steps do I need to do to ensure I don't break everything and so that everything still lines up/looks good when using a different theme?

You've been a huge help and I really appreciate it.

That worked perfectly, last question I think I have is what do I need to do so that everything still looks good and lines up correctly when switching styles? I switched the theme and now it looks a bit weird.

You can see under "Latest News" that you can't even hardly read the title of the topic and there's a bunch of lines up in the Menu area in the top left hand corner, etc..., any idea's how to avoid stuff like this when changing styles?

It already supports deathknight. 8) Check the 2nd screenshot.
The block screenshot is one I took before when I first made the recruitment block a few months ago.

Is there anyway to change "DeathKnight" to "Death Knight" (with a space between words) without it putting it on 2 lines? I went into the recruitment.html and added the space but it then puts the word Knight on a separate line below Death. Not a huge deal, just curious.

I also thought about a block which worked with phpraider showing you what raid is on that day with a quick signup link.

Great idea, I would love to use both of those ideas on my site. Great work, keep it up! :D

Try changing it to Death Knight in the recruitment file.
Then go into your ACP >> Portal >> Portal Administration.

Try changing the width of the columns
